I’ve never expected that a Blinx Discord server would grow as much as it did. But here we are. Blinx Corps will be turning 1 on the 30th of June. It’s a perfect time to look back on the server’s creation and history. Channels created, channels deleted (rip #other-games) and so, so many emojis. Having a place where Blinx fans can discuss, share and laugh together in this day and age is a wonderful feeling. For a little backstory, I created Blinx Corps after the Blinx Wikia admin Psittacidae13 proposed a Discord server for editors to communicate with each other. After no word on this (Psittacidae13 simply forgot about it), I decided to create a general Blinx server. Blinx Corps is named after the 50 or so women who dressed up as Blinx during the Commemoration Release Event. A very fitting name for a cult for a time-controlling cat with a magic vacuum. The server’s icon is the cover image of the Cool Masters Guide. The Blinx franchise is tragically obscure, so a small member count is inevitable (though 125 members as of writing this is still impressive), but having a small community has its advantages. The people in Blinx Corps are dedicated but down-to-earth. The conversations are serious in a good way: opinions and ideas have substance and discussions are usually well-thought out. That kind of thing is not for everyone, but for some Blinx fans, it’s what we’ve been wanting forever. The non-Blinx conversations are just as good. The server’s small enough that members can speak on other topics in great detail. I personally spend all my time using Discord in Blinx Corps not just because I run it but also because whatever is going on in #general is worth keeping up with, whether it be pictures of food to the weather. We love talking about the weather for some odd reason. One of my favourite aspects of the server is the sheer excitement we get from discovering something remotely new to the current set of Blinx knowledge. To be fair, most of that excitement comes from me. Not too long ago, I got really excited over a set of MOTAS coasters. Fucking coasters. Aside from that, every small achievement or discovery made is the most exciting shit ever for people who have been deprived of canon content for over a decade. Another is the fanart. Goddamn, the fanart is good. This year we've recently developed an obsession with Blinx fan characters (or “Fan Sweepers” as one proposed). At this point, if you don’t have a Fan Sweeper then what the heck are you even doing? It’s a lot of fun creating and sharing our characters, and it’s surprisingly easy to make them friends with each other. It’s the cute, wholesome shit that I recommend to all Blinx fans. Above are just some of the reasons I’ve come to love this server so much. If you’re a member of Blinx Corps reading this blog post, I encourage you the why you like the server, or what your favourite moment is. Or don’t, I’m not your mum (or maybe I am). Part of the community’s success is due to the platform it is on. Blinx Corps is the first Blinx community to be on a chat client which overtime revealed to be the best way to get new members and keeping the chat active almost every day. So thank you Discord, stay awesome. On a final note, I’d like to thank everyone who has joined my server for however long, whether it has been a minute or since the beginning. You guys make running the server worthwhile, as cheesy as it may sound. Special thanks to ThatGuyStu and DualityDalton for lending me a hand as mods. I look forward to another great year for Blinx Corps.
