Tanks
Tanks are acquired by the Tom Tom Gang partway through the Big Crystal incident, starting with Squealer's capture of one at the Pirates' Graveyard. They were then used in combat throughout the rest of the incident, including Squealer's fight with the Tundragon in the same world he found his tank as well as other encounters throughout other worlds.
The tanks travel on treads, are heavily armoured, and have a cannon as a primary weapon. The parts of a tank include the engine, chassis, ram (optional), cowl (covering the tread), turret (to which the cannon and subweapon are attached), cannon (which fires shells or diffusion missiles), subweapon (described in greater detail in the following section), firearms control system (FCS, the “brain” of the tank allowing the user to lock on to targets with both the cannon and subweapon), and antenna (optional and merely visual, attached to turret or chassis). All of these individual parts can be replaced and upgraded with parts sold at the Tom Tom shop, where Carlos also trains gang members to operate tanks. |
The appearance of the tank can vary with greatly different shapes in the turret, chassis, and cowl, as well as different subweapons entirely. Most tanks are a brown colour, though they can vary in hue and an antenna may be attached. A flag may wave from this antenna, as well.
Tanks can be used by Tom Tom teams prior to starting a VS. match. Once they are destroyed in-match, they cannot be used for the rest of the rounds.

SubweaponsMissile PodThe missile pod is the default subweapon, firing a homing missile at whatever the tank's FCS has locked on to. Though its destructive potential is limited, the weapon's accuracy results in high reliability.
Vertical MissileThe vertical missile launches non-homing missiles straight into the air that then rain down on targets. Although the trajectory is very distinct from the missile pod's projectiles, it functions similarly compared to the other, more unique subweapons available.
Giant DecoyAs its name suggests, the giant decoy launches a massive wind-up Tom Tom decoy (as seen in the TG-Decoy) that walks forward a short distance and produced an enormous and powerful explosion on contact with a solid object. If the decoy doesn't reach any such object within a designated period of time, the fuse atop its head will run out and result in a self-detonation. In either situation, the decoy stops walking for a brief moment before exploding. The explosion will incapacitate most, if not all, affected individuals. When first launched, the decoy is actually at the same size as a normal TG-Decoy wind-up, but it then grows nearly instantaneously to its full-size moments later. Despite being referred to as a decoy, the wind-up will not take on the appearance of its user as the TG-Decoy does.
ThunderDespite its resemblance to the G300 RAY (which was not designed by the Tom Tom Gang in any case), the thunder subweapon fires not a laser but an electric projectile that homes onto its target in a manner similar to the missile pod, provided that the FCS has locked on to this target beforehand. However, upon coming into contact with the target, the projectile will continue travelling and home into the nearest second target, repeating until all targets within range have been struck. This results in a weapon capable of gravely injuring entire clusters of opponents at once.
Rugby BombsRugby bomb, as their name suggests, are standard pig-faced bombs with a modified shape to resemble rugby balls. This shape results in an unpredictable bouncing behaviour that targets may find difficult to reliably evade. Unlike other subweapons, the rugby bombs cannot be aimed in any meaningful fashion due to their awkward bouncing, and they will not home towards targets designated by the FCS in any way. The probability of landing a hit with this weapon is improved by a large cluster of multiple bombs being fired simultaneously, which quickly spreads out over a wide area, though its coverage of this area is very sparse. The bombs are immediately lit, resulting in them exploding after a short period of time.
